 The Mission
A vision of neighborhoods where people WANT to live because the streets are safe, the housing is decent, and the schools are good.

Transformation can not be viewed as a short-term quick fix. Success will result from many small steps rather than from a few great leaps. A broad vision in program design is needed with an attention to detail in implementation.

 The Method

Building Capacity to Transform Neighborhoods Through:
  • Facilitation
  • Research
  • Education
  • Demonstration
  • Implementation
Components of Effective
Nonprofit Capacity

  • Ability to plan
  • Ability to secure resources
  • Capable management
  • Program delivery capacity
  • Ability to network

The Challenge
for Working Families
  • Housing is considered affordable when the occupant is paying no more than thirty percent (30%) of gross income for gross housing costs, including utility payments
  • Miami-Dade leads the nation in the percentage of households paying more than 50% for housing
  • 58% of persons working in Miami-Dade County earn $8.00 per hour or less
  • The gap between inner-city workers and jobs is widening. Miami families have very low incomes and therefore struggle to pay for housing and the necessities of life
